Nancy Breslin, a Special Education teacher at Glen Burnie High School, has been nominated for an Excellence in Education Award.
Breslin is the Special Education department chair at GBHS. She also manages the Special Education departments at every evening high school in Anne Arundel County. Her department has over a dozen teachers, and serves the entire student population, regardless of student ability.
GBHS Special Ed Teacher Celebrates 40 Year Legacy
“She’s worked tirelessly to promote equity and access for students of all abilities throughout her long career,” said one former GBHS teacher. Jessica Woods and her husband Ryan, currently an English teacher at the school, have worked with Breslin.
At the end of this school year, Breslin retires, and leaves behind a legacy of forty years of work. She looks forward to spending time with her children and grandchildren, but her “heart is still [at GBHS]” and will miss the GBHS community.
The honor, awarded by the Maryland Association of Boards of Education, is given to people who have “demonstrated exemplary leadership and service to excellence in public education in Maryland”. Breslin and other nominees will attend a gala on April 15 to celebrate their work.
